Since taking office the current administration promised to abolish DACA. This left close to 700,000 young people wondering about their future in this country. Many came to the United States as children with little to no connection to their country of origin. For many of these young adults they are and always will be American\’s.
Right or wrong the action to dismantle DACA created a culture of fear and concern for these 700,000 some young Dreamer\’s. It left many struggling to decide whether to continue fighting to build a life in the US or attempt to start planning for a life in a place that for many is foreign.
Right or wrong we want to take a moment to celebrate with the Dreamers. There is no guarantee for the future but today was a huge win. The Supreme Court ruled that the argument to terminate DACA was insufficient. This will give Dreamer\’s time to apply for green cards and push forward with their lives.
Living with the uncertainty of your immigration status can be a source of anxiety. We hope that this will give these young adults some hope. We hope that you continue to dream. push forward, and achieve.
The song High Hopes came to mind. “Had to have high hopes, didn’t know how but I always had a vision, mama said rewrite your history light up your wildest dreams, don’t give up it’s a little complicated”
Keep dreaming until those dreams are a reality and you are tasked with dreaming even bigger.
