Anxiety can come in many forms impacting an individual’s ability to function in key areas of their life.

Mood Disorders and Depression

Major Life Transitions

Life changes can be positive or negative. Often big changes…even good ones can be challenging. Some examples are going off to college, moving, changing careers to name a few.

About me

My name is Vicky Woodruff and I was born and raised in Baltimore County. I studied at Towson University for undergraduate. I went on to work for the Mental Health Association of Maryland, a non-profit, that engages in a variety of issues regarding mental health consumers. After this I decided to pursue a master’s degree in social work. I completed my MSW at the University of Southern California, graduating at the top of my class. I gained experience working at a Partial Hospitalization Program in Pennsylvania where I treated a range of mental illnesses typically in an acute stage. I then went on to work in a group practice in Baltimore. I am an LCSW-C licensed in the state of Maryland and the owner of Woodruff Counseling LLC.

I love my job and I want you to have a good experience. I have found, that though cases vary there is one thing that is consistent; every patient has strengths. My perspective is a strength-based approach because I have seen it work and I believe in positive psychology. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief Crisis Intervention to name a few. Therapy is a process where we will work together to find which approach/es will work best for you and your situation. Life is fluid and therapy should be as well, we will adapt as we need to so that you can get back to living your life.

Therapy requires vulnerability. I appreciate your willingness to give this a try. I understand how hard it can be to make that choice. I myself entered therapy in my late teens. It was a hard process but also one of growth. I know both perspectives and I will do my best to make this a positive experience for you. I can not always promise comfortable because change is not easy, but I will be there for you every step.

I’m in my early 30’s and I live in Northern Baltimore County. I have two golden retrievers Ellie and Ruby, pet ducks, and chickens. My family and friends are extremely important to me and I am grateful that they all live within about 15 minutes. I grew up playing on a farm but went downtown where my parents worked on a regular basis. I like to travel but I’m mindful about how I schedule it with patients. I enjoy the outdoors which is why I feel blessed to live where I do. I look forward to getting to know more about you.
